September 16, 2017
This all-day event includes luncheon. To be held at Michigan State University Management Education Center, 811 W. Square Lake Troy, Michigan, 48098
Keynote Speaker: award-winning author and speaker Weam Namou.
Weam Namou has authored twelve books, most recently her memoir series about how her experiences in a four-year spiritual program deepened her commitment to writing, to her family and to herself.
For 10 years, she has been a journalist for the Chaldean News and is a reporter for and ambassador of Arab America. Namou has been a columnist for several newspapers in the tri-county area and her poetry has appeared in national and international publications. She has been interviewed on radio and film, and was awarded a Lifetime Achievement award from E’Rootha in 2012. She has lectured widely and has recently been tapped by Writer’s Digest to lead a writing workshop. In addition to giving the keynote address, Weam will facilitate a workshop on successful self-publishing.
Other workshops led by award-winning authors include Linda Sienkiewicz (In the Context of Love) on finding the voice of your character, Liz King (The Good Chinese Daughter) on how her interest in cooking led to a lucrative writing career, Melissa Grunow (Realizing River City) on creative non-fiction and Kelly Fordon (Garden for the Blind) on poetry. Roberta Brown, author and musician, will present a special creativity workshop on visioning techniques for writers.
We’re also excited about an Editor/Agent Roundtable featuring Theresa Falzone and other prominent guests, moderated by Carl Anthony.
