Membership FAQs

Q. I've never been published. Can I join DWW?

A. Regrettably, we do not admit beginning writers. You must have book publication or publication credits in newspapers, periodicals, or the literary press, or plays read or produced before you consider joining DWW. Membership is not restricted by race or gender.

Q. I self-published a novel (book of poetry, etc.). Am I eligible to join?

A. Sorry, no. We do not consider self-published or collaboratively published works. Only impartially published works and single authorship or bylines are considered.

Q. How will DWW membership benefit me?

A. Membership in our prestigious, 108-year-old organization makes a great addition to your resume/portfolio. You will get to meet and network with other writers, have opportunities to make valuable contacts, access to marketing tools and an incredible knowledge base and hear speakers give tips and advice on a wide range of writing-related topics. See also Who We Are for details on meetings and other activities.

Q. What does it cost to join?

A. Membership dues are $50 annually for those under 60 years of age, and $25 annually for those over 60.
