The Peace Seekers

Contemplating the Heavens CD

Linda Nemec Foster's chapbook of poems, Contemplating the Heavens (Ridgeway Press, 2001) was the inspiration for an original music score and CD composed by Steve Talaga, acclaimed jazz pianist. Also titled "Contemplating the Heavens," the CD consists of sixteen tracks that reflect a wide range of musical styles: jazz, classical, blues, fusion, contemporary. Revealed by Fire is the true story of Ahnen's late husband Bill, a Korean War solider, told in his letters from 1950 to 1953. Ahnen met Bill in 1970 and married him in 1971; upon return from their honeymoon, Ahnen's mother-in-law gave her a canvas bag stuffed with 349 war letters written by the 20-year-old Bill. Ahnen co-wrote the book, obtaining comments from some 20 other Korean veterans, and doing the section writing.
